rock, rolling and running seattle: part three

July 16, 2012 by Anne Marie

Whew, we made it to part three! To all four of you still following along, thank you for your patience and ability to handle my really wordy and most likely obnoxious summary. I swear I try to follow my college professor/daily mentor Dr. Denny’s mantra, “omit needless words,” but sometimes multiple uses of “seriously” “oh my gahhhh” and ” for real for real” are just needed to adequately express how my brain works. Dr. Denny, I’m sure you understand.

However, to make up for all the necessary unnecessary words, I’m going to tell the rest of the story through pictures. So where was I? Oh riiiight… Everything that happened after the race and Laguna Beach YouTube session.

Everyone came over around 7 o’clock on Saturday night for the party… And party it was! All of Dave’s friends were so incredibly nice and so incredibly fun! I took a lot of pictures, a lot of jell-o shot wedges and a lot of Olan Mills poses…

balcony boys.

balcony beers. oh hey, space needle.

one for every mile. kidding, ma, kidding.

the jell-o shot wedges were a hit to say the least!

and so were the back-to-back “Olan Mills” style photos…

two of my very favorite men.

the back-to-back-to-back-to-back…making Olan Mills history over here.

paddy mc’coynes, after we were told to stop playing “thumper” as it was too loud for people eating dinner/drinking…at 1 a.m. Say what?

so we arm wrestled instead. here is dave, about to get taken down by giancarlo’s dad, dominic.

and here is dave being taken down. flip the switch!

Sunday morning:

A hazy start to a hazy day. I felt like a ran another half marathon! The cure? A serious, serious breakfast. We walked to Portage Bay, this really great breakfast spot complete with a toppings bar of fruit, granola, whipped cream, syrup, almonds, coconut…aka hands down my favorite restaurant before I even walked in the door. When we arrived at this great food mecca, I kid you not there was a line that wrapped around the block, Portlandia style! I could not stop laughing (I think it was the sugar in those jell-o shot wedges) and, to the dismay of Dave and Matt, taking pictures. Lucky for us, there were plenty of tables outside that were open for seating.

now that’s what i’m talking about. (the server wound up giving us this mug for free after he saw me taking pictures of it. see – being weird pays off.)

ummm and they gave out blankets. Dave and Matt were really proud of how manly they look in this picture. so was the woman behind them.

the line! brunch village indeed.

this one is for mama ro. “make sure you take a picture together with your food when it comes out.”

oatmeal cobbler french toast with raspberry compote and honey butter. Words can’t describe, besides HOLY FREAKING MOLEY!!!!!!

wait, wait, hold on…the TOPPINGS BAR. !!!!!!! why can’t every day be filled with things like this??

After the most amazing two hours of food, toppings, overly nice people and widely shared blankets, we took a walk down to fill the next few hours with more “things Anne Marie likes.”

yea.buddy.

my happy place.

well, basically all of seattle is my happy place. seriously, there is a ferris wheel!

gum wall! tried to find my piece from last year but after ten minutes, Dave & Matt dragged me away.

but promised ice cream! we made it just in time.

South Lake Union Trolley planners, how I loveeee your ability to not think ahead.

another day, another trip to portage bay and another swing at the toppings bar. i think i won.

one last scenic picture from the deck before heading off to the airport.

Three posts later, it is clear that we absolutely loved spending time rockin’ and runnin’ through Seattle! Thank you Dave and friends for a simply fantastic trip. We will be back very, very soon for more fun, more sightseeing, more beers, more Pike Place and certainly more toppings. :)

It’s never a smart move to read your blog when I’m hungry. You take some good food pictures! What a great trip. By the way, thanks for taking care of my picky husband. It’s sweet of you guys to take him in each night. :)
